<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Janina\u00a0Roider was born in 1986 in Dachau and today lives and works in Munich in Germany. Lately she has been granted a one year scholarship of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Janina Roider has received several awards such as studio fundings both of the city of Munich and the Federal State of Bavaria in Germany over the past years. With the support of a scholarship for gifted students sponsored by the Evangelische Studienwerk e.V. she studied from 2008 until 2010\u00a0at the Academy of Fine Art in Munich under Matthias W\u00e4hner and G\u00fcnther F\u00f6rg of whom she has been awarded “Meistersch\u00fcler” (Master Scholar) before he passed away. <\/span>
\nShe earned a one year scholarship at the Glasgow School of Art where she graduated with a Bachelor of Art in 2010. Ever since she had several solo shows, exhibited internationally in group exhibitons and has been represented at art fairs such as the Art Karlsruhe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before she discovered the world of art at the late age of 16, her main interested was playing music which still is part of her creative life. <\/span>
\nJanina Roider\u00b4s work deals with the ongoing question what painting is, after it has been declared dead several times. What can it add to an accelerated world of an unlimited flood of images? Her paintings invite people to linger and rethink the idea of the perception of pictures, the process of its production followed by the urge of sharing them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While over ten years she mainly focused on the classical genre of portraiture, she has enriched her body of work with different materials such as digital painting, mirror glass, drawing, printing and sculpting. In her latest two solo shows in Munich and Hamburg Janina Roider opened up to a new concept of presentation with two side specific installations.<\/span><\/p>\n
